Nichols goes “Super Express”

The new Super Express Train, part of the Intercity Express Programme, is the biggest investment in intercity trains in the UK for over a generation.

Announced in early 2009, this will herald a new train concept which performs better, carries more passengers, is cleaner, greener, lighter, more flexible and easier to operate than it predecessors.

A Nichols team have been working closely with the Department for Transport on this exciting programme for over three years, providing:

• Expertise in Sponsorship and Programme Management, from initial concept stage
• Leading the procurement process, for what is a complex and demanding £7.5bn contract
• Building powerful relationships within the Department and across industry, as part of a multi-disciplinary team

Nichols are at the forefront of major investments in rail. Our teams are also supporting the Thameslink Programme and Pendolino Lengthening programmes.

Women's Transportation Seminar (WTS) London - Sponsorship Award 2008

Nichols is a corporate member of the WTS (Women in Transport Seminar) an international organisation providing a variety of opportunities to promote and support women in transport. WTS London was launched in 2005, in acknowledgement of a chronic under-representation of women in the transport industry.

Nichols were presented with an award at the recent meeting of Sponsors for our corporate support to WTS. Since the meeting we have also been asked to take part in making a DVD which will be shown to schools and colleges promoting girls and women in transport. The Sponsors consist of TfL, Parsons Brinkerhoff, Jacobs, PwC, Atkins, Tubelines, BT, Mayor of London, Mouchel and Equality Works.
